How To Receive A Revelation From God?

Ephesians 1:15-20

“Because of this, since I first heard about your strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and your tender love toward all his devoted ones my heart is always full and overflowing with thanks to God for you as I constantly remember you in my prayers. I pray that the Father of glory, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, would impart to you the riches of the Spirit of wisdom and the Spirit of revelation  to know him through your deepening intimacy with him. I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination,  flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of his calling —that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that he finds in us, his holy ones! I pray that you will continually experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of this immense power as it works through you! This is the mighty power that was released when God raised Christ from the dead and exalted him  to the place of highest honor and supreme authority  in the heavenly realm!”

Lets begin:

How do we receive revelation? We all want to hear from God and understand Him deeper, so how do we get that revelation we desire? In the verse above we get a simple answer. First, Paul opens his prayer and writes that he hopes God will “impart . . . the riches of the Spirit of wisdom and the Spirit of revelation.” Some interpret this to mean that we are waiting for an impartation. As in we are waiting for God to answer the prayer. This is only half true. What if the prayer isn’t answered right away? Does that mean God doesn’t want you to understand His depths?

Let’s dig deeper. Later on Paul says, “made available to you through faith.” Here is the answer! These things Paul is praying for have already been made available! So it’s not that we are waiting for God to answer the prayer; rather, it’s already been answered. How do we get it—Through faith! Paul is telling us when we pray, we need to be focused on believing that we already have access to these riches. Once we believe we have it we get it. That’s what Paul is saying here.

There are 2 more critical things found here:

1. The purpose of receiving the revelation is to be a walking advertisement for God.

2. There is immense power that works through us!

Imagine yourself praying at your bedside. See the linens on your bed, the warm coffee on your table, and the word of God opened up. Now pray . . . “God thank you that you have already given me revelation. Thank you that you have already given me healing. God thank you that you gave me your greatest treasure, Jesus. Thank you that you have given me wealth.” Now imagine yourself finishishing the prayer. You get up from your bedside, sip your coffee, and begin the day. As you go throughout the day everything works in the positive for you. Everything falls into place. You think today is so good and “Life only gets better.” Now doubt strikes, “No I can’t have that.” But then faith answers, “Yes, I can have that because the Bible tells me God has already given it to me. It is mine! I won’t let anybody take it!” Life continues to excel and get greater. Now there is no stopping you! The course of your life and your families lives have changed forever. You are now living under the blessing of God!
